EGO NETWORK

Ego networks consist of a focal node (“ego”) and the nodes to whom ego is directly connected to (these are called “alters”) plus the ties, if any, among the alters.

In Social Network Analysis, the Ego network is the social network we have, or in other words social networking with us as its center. By looking at the social network we have, we can know the characteristics of our environment such as: who are our friends, how much reach of our friendship, there are groups / groups of friends we have, Part of Social Network Analysis whose purpose is quantification of social relationships in the form of graph representation, then the ego network has the same goal but with a more specific environment that is our ego environment.

A few moments ago there were plenty of apps for our ego network reconstruction on facebook, twitter, linkedin or from our mail server, but nowadays this app can not be used, maybe the owner of social networking service who object if we do 'crawl' social networking burdening the server work, resulting in many applications already in the block. We can still outsmart it, for example we can create a network ego from backup our gmail email etc.

from what you see, the names are connected with their friends. shows that from the main person to the second person is very related and the second person is related to the third person, the first person is related to the third, but not as close to the second person
